Don’t Install Dummy Security Cameras to Protect Your Business

November 9, 2019 by Ian Leave a Comment

Some people might tell you that there’s value in installing dummy security cameras. They might not serve the actual purpose, but they can deter people from intruding. The fact that such cameras exist could theoretically prevent criminals from doing the act. Although it works in some instances, in most cases, it doesn’t. Therefore, you have to spend more money and install actual security cameras.

Criminals know better

Before criminals do any crime, they have already planned all the details. They surveyed the place several times. They have an idea if the security cameras are legitimate or not. The moment they find out that you are using fake cameras, you’re giving them a signal to pursue their planned activity.

Security cameras can help catch criminals

There are instances when intruders will pursue their plans even if they know that there are real security cameras all over the place. If no one is monitoring these cameras, the criminals might get away with the crime. The good thing is that you can send the footage to the local police so they can help identify the suspect. It’s only a matter of time before you can bring that person to justice.

You can hire people to monitor the footage

If you want to heighten the security at work, you may also hire people to monitor the footage. You can check what’s going on in real time. The employee in charge of monitoring can immediately call police officers or backup security to head to the area and check if there’s an intruder. You can catch the criminal right away.

The prices aren’t too different

You can find security cameras of different qualities. The sharpness of the image and the storage capacity may affect the overall price. You can determine which model to buy based on how much your company can afford. When you decide to purchase dummy cameras, they also cost a lot. Instead of buying something that has no value, you would rather spend a bit more to secure the workplace.

You need more

Installing security cameras is ideal. However, they’re not the only options available for you. There are other ways to secure your workplace. For instance, you can hire roving guards to check the entire perimeter even when the employees are not around. They can also help check if the valuables inside the workplace remain safe. They could even prevent potential fires.

You also need to partner with local police forces. You want them to back you up if there’s a possibility of criminals intruding. You want them to act right away and help out.

You owe it to your employees and clients to ensure that the workplace is safe. You don’t want to lose lives and property because you didn’t invest in quality security measures. You can discuss your needs with Security Oxford if you want to know how to implement better security at work. They will give you the best advice.
