How To Make an Effective Trade Show Display

May 1, 2019 by Ian Leave a Comment

Technological advancements have made it much easier for businesses to make their own trade show booth graphics. But it is very easy to get lost in the gimmicks and lose focus on the basics. While creating trade show displays, the graphics and messages need to be simple and the layouts should be clean. Below are some useful tips on how to make an effective trade show display.

1. Choose Your Trade Show Images Carefully

Using simple, clear, and bold graphics in your display can be very effective in making a memorable canvas. Ornate, busy, mysterious, and ambiguous art and images might be good to look at, but they may be distracting and less effective in selling your company’s story.

If you can, choose simple single graphics. You might feel tempted to utilize multiple images to narrate a complicated story, but in many cases, single simple images will communicate the message just as well.

2. Come Up With a Simple Headline That is Easy to Remember

Take some time to think about the most appropriate words, and keep your headline for the display simple, legible and short. Most attendees who did not intend to visit your booth at the trade show event will walk past your display, and if you are lucky they will give your booth a passing glance. This is often your best chance to capture their attention. If your booth features a headline that is compelling and has been thought out carefully, they might choose to come to your trade display and learn more about your firm.

The shorter and clearer your headline is, the bigger it will appear on your display. The bigger it is on the trade show display, the more your display will grab the attention of the trade show traffic. Even a simple tabletop display that consists of a short bold headline can be seen by people some yards away.

3. Be Thoughtful When Writing the Description

You might want to write out a description on your trade show booth that describes everything you wish potential customers to know about the products or services you are offering, but you shouldn’t. As much as you want them to, most visitors at the trade show will not want to use a lot of time reading about a company.

If the headline and image of your display grabbed the attention of the attendees, they might want to read just one or two sentences. Keep all your sentences very short and make every word count. Use bullet points and do not get too technical.

4. Make Your Company Name Noticeable

There are very many trade show exhibits that hide their brand names without knowing. In many cases, you pay a lot of money to participate in a trade show; therefore you should take more effort and ensure your company’s name is prominent and easy for all attendees to see. The best place to put your company name is at the header part of the display because the visitors at the event will expect to see it there.

If you do not have a company logo, it is recommended that you create one. This is your chance to make an impression on potential customers and a logo will make you look like an established firm.

5. Include Your Website Link and Social Media Address

A very important message you shouldn’t forget to include in your trade show display is the website address. It is important to include it because if an attendee sees something at your exhibit that impresses them, they can follow your website link to know more. The same applies to social media accounts.
