Work better from home with office supplies

Working from home might be tricky at first, especially when you have kids. Even if they go to school/nursery, sometimes they get sick or just have a day off. That’s why it’s extra important to place some rules and make your home office as functional as possible.

Pick a quiet place

If you do have kids, you know they can make huge amounts of noise. Thus, if you’d prefer to have some silence while you work, pick a quiet spot at your house to prepare your office – preferably far from the living spaces.

If that’s not possible (i.e. your appartment is too slow to do so), prepare working space in the least used room. Then use some of the office supplies you can get at https://www.staples.dk/ and prepare signs for kids. Get three pieces of paper and color it green, yellow and red. Make holes in the paper and put some a string that you can hang over the door handle of the room in which you work. Then, inform your kids, that if you’ve placed red paper on the door – they are not allowed to come in. If the “mark” is yellow, they can come in only with important matters (it might be good to point them to avoid misunderstandings). Green mark means you aren’t preoccupied with your work and you can have small visitors if they would like to chat a minute.

Place some furniture

When the rules are set, you should get some home office supplies, that will help you with organizing your working space. While everyone knows, that desk and chair are a must, did you think about getting locker for documents or any other sort of space, where you can store the data?

Even if you don’t have enough place to put a large bookcase or cupboard, get some binders and cardboard boxes. This way, you can keep the documents safe and your working space is as clean as possible. It might also be a good idea to get a label printer: this device can be used to prepare other, stickable notes, not only waybills. For example, you can use them to print names for your binders, which will make it easier for you to find the needed documents.

Another device, that you might find really useful, is the printer or multifunctional device, that allows to print, copy and scan documents. It’s extra useful, if you deal with data a lot and allows you to work efficiently. Remember though, that it requires a lot of space and might not fit into your home office, if the room is rather small. Before buying such device, better check its dimensions and carefully measure the free space. Too big printer will be difficult to use comfortably.
