How to Speed up Fungal Nail Recovery from the Comfort of Your Home

August 11, 2019 by Ian Leave a Comment

Some might not be aware, but a fungal infection is not necessarily a hygiene problem. Even someone who takes very good care of their body can still end up with a fungal infection, depending on where they have been. It is the main reason why there is no reason to feel shame or embarrassment from having a fungal infection. It is just like any other virus and can be cleared up with the proper treatment for fungal nail infection.

That said, the conventional method might not be enough from those suffering from stress every moment they have a fungal infection. To help speed up the recovery process, here are just a few home remedies you can pair with conventional treatment to get the job done!

Tea tree oil is harmless and surprisingly effective

There are some methods, like the use of garlic that can often be considered too intense for those suffering from the fungus. After all, it is one thing for a toenail or fingernail to look awful due to the virus – it is another entirely to have it smell like garlic as well. Fortunately, there have been a few small studies that show promise using tea tree oil to deal with a fungal infection. To use the concoction, simply swab a little bit on the affected nail once a day. The best part is that tea tree oil is considered quite therapeutic, which means not only will it clear up the bacteria – it will also help relax you.

In the same vein as tea tree oil, you can use olive leaf extract

Similar to tea tree oil, olive leaf extract has therapeutic qualities and can even help you sleep if you make use of it at night. That said, unlike tea tree oil, you can purchase capsules of olive leaf extract. Some even say that the tablets are often more effective than merely applying it on the affected nail. That said, no matter the form, it will help speed up the recovery of the fungal infection with little to no hassle.

Garlic capsules can still help

For those who might think that regular crushed garlic on an infected toenail has too intense an effect, there are garlic capsules available. It would be a good idea to ask your doctor about how many pills to take per day, though the average would be about once or twice a day. Similar to taking olive leaf extract capsules, the use of garlic in capsule form can help speed up the process without having to do much else.

As an honourable mention, what you put into your body can have an effect on how your fungus clears up. For example, take in protein to help encourage the growth of nails. You can also eat plenty of fish for omega 3 fatty acids that do their part to remove the bacteria! There are plenty of alternative methods to help clear up the fungus.
