How Much Does an Average Wedding Cost

May 24, 2020 by Ian Leave a Comment

When it comes to weddings, there are so many demands to consider before the big day comes about. There isn’t such a thing as an average price since so many people have lot’s of different aspects to their wedding day, but there are some general costs that most couples will need for their day. No wedding would be complete without them, and this is something to consider when you’re setting a budget. In 2016, the average American wedding $35,000 but as the cost goes up, the number of guests at the wedding often go down. You may want to set yourself a reasonable budget once you’ve decided on the unique aspects of your wedding and then only spend this amount. Cutting down on things you don’t need for your wedding is sure to save you money.

Since there are so many aspects of your wedding to think about, we have listed some key things below so you can always ensure you’re wedding is going to flow and have the most memorable day. These key elements are essential to most American couples and should be incorporated into your budget before anything else that is extra.

Venue

Either the most significant chunk of your budget is spent on a wedding venue, or they’re entirely free. There are certain venues you’re going to like more than others, and while it’s an integral part of your big day, you want to stay in budget. It’s essential to think about your guest list during the choosing of your venue as the more prominent the guest list, the larger the venue will have to be and thus the price will rise. Choose a venue that you find beautiful and will want to remember forever, keep in mind that your wedding day is going to be one of the most documented days of your life, you want everything to be perfect.

Photographer

Solo photographers are a great way to save money as they’re self-employed and will often provide you with deals. Most photographers can capture your wedding but making sure your choice is correct could mean the difference between lifelong pictures you display everywhere, to ones you’re disappointed with. Some couples advise brides to have two photographers as they can more effectively capture the whole day.

Catering and Food

Everyone loves food, but when it comes to paying for it, we often don’t want to hand over the cheque. The catering costs will be decided by the guest list and whether you would rather have a buffet or sit-down meal. This is definitely personal preference, but generally, you will pay less for a buffet option.

Wedding Outfits and Clothing

Decide on what’s the most important aspect to you and try to cut the cost. Some American brides can spend upwards of $20,000 just on their wedding dress, but if you can find someone for a more affordable price that looks just as beautiful, why not? You will also need to think about bridesmaid and flower girl dresses. JJ’s House provides cheap flower girl dresses that are high quality and very affordable, they’re definitely worth searching if you want your little girls looking like a perfect princess. While not required, many grooms pick up some portion of the groomsmens’ wardrobe. For example, companies like No Cold Feet offer personalized, matching or coordinated groomsman socks.

Decorations and Flowers

Every bride wants her wedding day to be picturesque, flowers and decorations make your ceremony and the after party so much better. Choose these carefully though as you want everything to match and align with each other. If you choose a baby pink dress color for your bridesmaids, then this flower color will look great too.
