5 Games you Should Pack for a Road Trip With Kids

January 13, 2022 by Ian Leave a Comment

While taking your children with you on a road trip might seem like a daunting task, it’s essential for their development. Besides, family road trips offer an excellent time to share stories, bond, and make beautiful memories.

But, traveling with your kids can turn into a complete nightmare if you fail to pack the necessary games. And if you are wondering how you will keep your kids engaged and entertained throughout the road trip, worry no more.

The following are games that can help make your entire road trip feel like a breeze:

I Spy Travel Cards

Whether you are on a short or long road trip, your kids will enjoy the task of finding items that match their cards outside the car. This game lets your kids seek and find items that match their cards while at the same time appreciating the background.

So, before you fill your kids’ luggage with clothes, don’t forget to pack this game. Also, if you are traveling with preschoolers, there is a way to get them engaged. Try the I Spy Travel Card for children aged four and above. The game has forty-eight huge cards with pictures corresponding to texts. They will feel grown when they read about road trip signs and then rush to be the first to identify them.

Travel Bingo

Travel Bingo is a game that will keep your children occupied for a long time. This game enables your kids to learn to be more observant of their environment by marking off things they see on the road. Each slide bingo card has a big print that makes it easier for kids to read them out. Besides, this cool activity is perfect for road trips and vacations, and car rides.

Rubberneckers

This game puts a halt to road boredom, whether on a car ride or a road trip. This road trip game includes silky cards that have the same instructions as I Spy to keep your kids entertained and occupied for a long time. The game also allows your kids to compete against one another to identify or locate things listed on the cards to amass more points. Things to look out for outside the car include people eating, singing, picking their noses, or doing any other unusual or normal things. This game is very easy and is fun for the entire family.

Travel Blurt

Travel blurt is a first-talking word remembering game that is educational, fun, engaging, and interactive for kids. You can team up kids against parents in a fun competition that will leave you all in stitches in this game. This game has the potential to improve your kids’ vocabulary and word recall. In addition, this game includes seventy-five double sides cards with 450 words, a scoreboard, a card sleeve, and four magnetic score pieces. All the players listen to a definition and rush to respond in this game. So, the first player to blurt correctly moves up the scoreboards, and the first player to reach the top of the board is the winner.

Guess in 10 Cities Around the World

If you plan a long road trip, this guessing game must be on your packing list. The game includes six clue cards, a card holder, fifty game cards, and an instruction manual. Also, this is the best game to consider if you want to improve your child’s creative thinking, problem-solving, decision-making, and communication skills.

In this game, players draw clue cards and make guesses to pinpoint some of the most common metropolitans in the process of elimination. This game can be fun for both parents and kids. You will all get to learn about the culture, food, and monuments associated with some of the world’s famous cities.

Bottom Line

Traveling with your kids can seem daunting; however, it has many benefits. And while you can be tempted to carry tablets or laptops for your kids to kill the boredom of traveling, it will be a good idea to have them occupied and engaged with some old-fashioned fun like games.

This is especially essential if you are on a long road trip.
