Exploring Launceston: a nature lover’s guide

February 7, 2020 by Ian Leave a Comment

Launceston, Australia, is the perfect location if you’re a nature lover, and while you’re in this Tasmanian city, it’s worth trying to see as much as possible. When you visit this gorgeous location, you’ll be able to squeeze a number of different spots into your itinerary in just a few days. If you’re planning a holiday Down Under, with specific plans to see Launceston, it could be worth comparing car hire in Launceston to help you visit some of the most beautiful sights. We’ve put together this guide of some of the places you won’t want to miss.

Hollybank Treetops Adventure and Reserve

Across the reserve, you’re able to attach yourself to a zipwire and take a trip from the trees. Alternatively, you can take a guided segway tour instead. Not only is this a fun activity, but you’ll also be able to explore the wilderness of Launceston, opening your eyes to a world of nature. The experience is available in all weathers, and you’ll be sure to enjoy yourself regardless of whether the sun is shining.

Tamar Valley

Whether you’re looking for animals, water or land, Launceston has it all – and Tamar Valley is highly recommended. It is one of Launceston’s top locations to visit, and when you look at the gorgeous views across the water, you’re sure to feel relaxed. Take a stroll, or sit by the water and take in the fresh air while you embrace your surroundings.

Cataract Gorge

Cataract Gorge is another gorgeous river in Launceston with a bridge placed in the middle allowing you to view both sides of the Gorge. With walking trails around the cliffs to explore, it’s no wonder that tourists love wandering around this area. Go swimming on a warm day, or even take a river cruise to see all the views from water level.

City Park

Most big cities have picturesque green spaces in the centre, and Launceston is no different. Whether you’re having a wander through the park or taking some time out for a picnic, it’s the perfect quaint location. There are plenty of things to see in the city park, including the duck pond near the Jubilee Fountain. While it’s a great tourist hotspot, packed with lots to do, it’s also filled with fascinating history to discover – so it’s definitely perfect for a family day out.

Alongside some of these beautiful spots, there are a number of other places to see, and each one is worth the visit. If you love nature, Launceston is definitely the city for you – with endless views and beautiful weather, you’re likely to have a packed itinerary from start to finish on a visit to this Tasmanian gem.
