THREE OF THE MOST CAR-FRIENDLY CITIES IN THE US

December 6, 2019 by Ian Leave a Comment

The United States is 25 times the size of the Federal Republic of Germany. Unlike many European cities, which are easy to explore on foot, in the United States there are not many places you can tour without a car. Which three cities can you discover especially well with a rental car? we will show you here. While in Las Vegas, South Point is the perfect place for tourists to stay. It is a home away from home.

Las Vegas, Nevada

Las Vegas is in the Mojave Desert. Just because of the high temperatures you should explore the so-called Sin City and its surroundings best by car. On your journey of discovery, you will soon realize that the desert city has much to offer beyond the glamor of the “strip” and is an excellent base for exploring the surrounding area. For example, visit the huge Hoover Dam just 50 km southeast of the city center.

Motorists have it easy in Las Vegas. The main Flamingo Road, Tropicana Avenue, and Sahara Avenue run from east to west, while Interstate 15 connects south and north and runs parallel to Las Vegas Boulevard with its many casinos. The streets on the Las Vegas Strip are busy in the evenings, but you can park your vehicle on one of the many free parking lots in the area.

Chicago, Illinois

The city of Chicago is known beyond its borders as the home of blues music and wind. Therefore, their inhabitants call them affectionately “The Windy City”. Among the city’s landmarks on Lake Michigan include the huge Willis Tower (until July 2009 Sears Tower) and the Old Water Tower (Old Water Tower). From shopping in the Magnificent Mile and sporting events in Wrigleyville to walking through McKinley Park and Blues concerts in downtown Chicago is never boring. But the distances between popular attractions are great. Those who would like to get from Willis Tower to Wrigleyville, for example, must drive about twelve kilometers. By car you need for the route about 18 minutes; It takes almost twice as long as the subway.

Like most American cities, Chicago has a grid system so you can easily navigate between different parts of the city. If you want to escape the hustle and bustle of the city for a while, you can reach the Great Lakes in no time by car.

Dallas, Texas

Everything is bigger in Texas – the same applies to the distances between the many sights. For example, if you want to watch a game of the Dallas Cowboys in the AT & T Stadium, you must travel to the western neighboring city of Arlington. By car, the route was covered within 22 minutes. But if you travel by public transport, it takes about an hour and a half for the route. Also, it can be very hot in Dallas during the day, so you should better avoid long walks.

Guides advice in major European cities, even once on foot areas to explore. Things are different in the US. Many American cities are designed for car traffic. That’s why it pays off to rent a car in the US to be mobile in the larger cities.
